"Die Mathematiker sind eine Art Franzosen; redet man mit ihnen, so übersetzen sie es in ihre Sprache, und dann ist es alsobald ganz etwas anderes."
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832)
Aus: Goethes Werke Bd. XII - Maximen und Reflexionen. 6. Aufl., Hamburg 1967 (Maxime Nr. 652)
"Philosophy of science is about as useful to scientists as ornithology is to birds."
Richard P. Feynman (1918-1988)

Interests

Differential Geometry, Geometric Design, Mathematics in Industry.

As part of the VIDIGEO project I have made Interactive notes on Curves in Computer Aided Geometric Design.

A group of students have made a "midway" project on The scroll compressor. and another group has made a project on Subdivision surfaces.

Another pump with intriguing geometry is the Moineau pump.

Differential Geometry and Design of Shape and Motion (in PDF format), Lecture notes for 01243, 154 pages. (In postscript format).
We play soccer with great enthusiasm (greater than the talent) and we also run, especially in "Dyrehaven" (The Deer Garden) near the university. When I got a heel spur I took up cycling.
