Divergence angle in primordia emmission

Go to applet list

This applet gives the possibility to vary the seeds divergence angle, i.e. the angle between two successive seeds, as they are emmited. In the left part of the applet, you can modify this angle by moving the red point in the polar coordinate system, and observe how the primordia correspondingly will be placed. By default, this angle angle is set to the Golden Angle, i.e. 2 π / φ ˜ 137.508°, where φ is the Golden Ratio, (1 + √ 5) / 2. By setting the dispersion angle to "simple" angles (such as 90°, 45° etc.) you will observe that the seeds are aligned. The red lines in the left coordinate system correspond the the two Golden Angles, 137.508° and 360° - 137.508° = 222.492°, but they are very difficult to attain exactly, just by moving the red point. So to restore the Golden Angle click here. Observe also that very small variation from this angle makes big variation in the seed organization.
