IUTAM topoptSYMP2005

Preparing papers and lectures/posters for the Symposium

PAPERS -- for the meeting

It is an integral part of IUTAM Symposia that papers presented (as a poster or a lecture) are available in some form for the meeting itself - both as a service to participants and for the refereeing process for the final proceedings (see below). The printing of this pre-publication is handled by the organizers (in respect of the deadline, see below).

The paper you would like to distribute is preferably not longer than 12 pages and always has an even page length; extended abstracts of a minimum of 4 pages can also be included.

The deadline for inclusion of your paper in the pre-publication circulation at the meeting is October 10. If you cannot meet this deadline please bring 75 copies of your paper for the meeting itself. Note that ONLY presentations for which a paper or an extended abstract is available at the meeting can be included in the final proceedings.

Only pdf-files (no color) can be processed. For lay-out, we recommend the use of the templates that have to be used for the final proceedings (see below).

Please forward your contribution (attached pdf-file) by email to the following address: iutam@ime.aau.dk

PAPERS -- for the final proceedings

The proceedings of the symposium will be published by Springer (formerly Kluwer).
Templates and style files for Latex and Word can be downloaded here: [ LaTexProc.zip] [WordInstructions.zip]
NOTE: LaTexProc.zip provides all style files necessarry for the final proceedings volume. To get started on your chapter we suggest to use the following latex-file [opening.tex] instead of the procchap.tex files found in the Zip-file.

For the proceedings the papers should be no more than 10 pages long (this page limit holds for poster as well as lecture papers) -- and always an even number.

All papers for the proceedings will be refereed. This will take place during the meeting. Thus some form of paper is required to appear at the meeting, and ONLY presentations for which a paper or an extended abstract (cf. the above) is available at the meeting can be included in the final proceedings.

The processing of the papers for the final proceedings-book will be handled by Karada Publishing Services.

Authors are kindly requested to supply a PDF of their article (for cross-checking) together with the source files, i.e. Word or TeX plus electronic figures. The figures should be in one of the following formats: eps, tiff, jpeg, ppt or PDF. Optimal resolutions are: 300 dpi for grayscales/colours and 600 dpi for lineart/bitmap.

The electronic files should be zipped into one file, using the first authors' name (for example, sigmund.zip) and can be sent directly to Jolanda Karada at kts@siol.net .
If the files are larger than 20MB, then please contact Jolanda Karada (tel.: +386 - 5 - 333 44 14) and an alternative way can be discussed. Another option is to upload the files to your own ftp site and send Jolanda Karada the link for downloading.

Deadline for the final paper is November 30.

ABOUT FIGURES:
Since the printed proceedings will contain black & white figures only, you are kindly requested to avoid using color figures. If you do use color figures, these will have to be converted to black & white, which will most certainly result in loss of information.

PRESENTATIONS:

ABOUT POSTERS:
Please prepare your poster in A0-format (portrait -- 841mm wide by 1189 mm high). If possible, please print your poster in this format. Alternatively, A0 paper will be available for mounting your poster slides.
POSTER seminar-presentation:
4 minutes are allocated for each poster at the beginning of the evening poster sessions. This allows for 2-3 slides stating highlights of the work. For en efficient running of this, please bring only slides for the overhead projector (NO PowerPoint presentation, thank you).

LECTURE presentation:
Overhead and PowerPoint-like presentations are possible. A computer will be available for upload -- please make sure that you integrate all special fonts etc. in your files.
TIMING your lecture: A lecture has 22 min. for presentation, followed by 8 min. for discussion. It is a central aspect of a IUTAM Symposium that ample time is available for discussion, so please make sure that your lecture can be given within the 22 minutes. There are no parallel sessions, so you are guaranteed input from more than 70 of your colleagues!
