Bør vi stole på Maple?

....Especially in engineering where a mistake can be very costly, you don't want to put too much trust in Maple (or any other software system, or by-hand calculations for that matter). Maple is a powerful tool, but it is not a substitute for thought. There are some areas where it is quite reliable, and others where it is not. But it has no innate intelligence, and is perfectly willing to try to do something that is beyond its capabilities. It's up to the user to decide:
  • Is this a calculation that Maple can reasonably be expected to do?
  • Is the answer Maple gets reasonable?
  • Is there a way to check that the result is correct, perhaps by doing the calculation by some other method, or even by a different CAS?
